i was lucky enough to have Kathryn for my 2 last births and i would not change a thing. she was patient, caring but most of all supportive in what i wanted to achieve.the aftercare was of high standards and always at the end of the phone if i needed advice especially on breast feeding. she gave me new information that i would probably not of had from a hospital birth like leaving the cord till it had stopped pulsing and that i could cut the cord which i did.

Kathryn was an invaluable part of my successful home birth. My midwife worked for the NHS and was really great, however I was just coming up to 42 weeks and was being told I couldn't have a home birth if I went over 42 weeks. I also was beginning to feel some pressure to be induced. My confidence in achieving my birth plan was low and I was getting rather stressed out. I needed to speak to an independent specialist who had experience of home births and natural births, and could give me a more neutral opinion. Kathryn was fantastic, very giving and generous with her time, but most importantly gave me sound advice, research-based information and could talk to me about other women in my situation. We've still only spoken on the phone, but her warm and approachable manner really made a massive difference to me. I was able to relax about my choices and go forward with a natural home birth. She is a real advocate for positive birthing experiences

Kathryn delivered our first baby who is now 4 months old.
There can be a lot of resistance from health professionals when you say that you would like to have a home birth with your first one but Kathryn was wondefully supportive. We had a waterbirth at home, a truly fantastic experience. Kathryn's aftercare was so invaluable, especially helping me to establish breastfeeding with my little one. I am not sure I would have been able to do it without her! You'll be able to read our full story soon. Thanks for all your invaluable help and advice Kathryn!

In 1980 I had a standard hospital birth. The less said, the better. Not a pleasant experience. In 1985 I had to temporarily move home and doctors to get a home birth. Much more relaxing and the standard of care by the local GP and community midwife was excellent. 17 years later I became pregnant again. The assigned NHS hospital based midwife was adamant I could only have a hospital birth, should undertake several tests to ensure I was not carrying a downs syndrome baby, and would probably need assistance in view of my age. [44] Older and wiser, I left the surgery and did not return. After research on the internet I found Katheryn, interviewed her with my clipboard of questions and requirements, and found someone I could trust. The water birth went well with no interference and no medical gadgets. I sincerely hope their are no more additions to our family, as my daughter is now almost 6 years old, but would have no hesitation in recommending Kathryn for her calm manner and her conviction that childbirth is not a medical condition but a natural event.

I was also extremely blessed to have Kathryn who is so kind warm and generous care for me throughout my pregnancy and be there at the end of the day to deliver my son safely into the world. It was such a lovely experience to have had Kathryn exclusively to be able to build up a trust and bond with a midwife who I trusted completely, it made me feel very safe and took my fears away from childbirth.
I would recommend Kathryn to anyone and would gladly have her support me if I was ever to have anymore children; my only regret is that she was not there for the birth of my first child.
